132 lawyers obtain license

A number of 132 lawyers were issued with licenses on Friday after passing the qualification exam. Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim congratulated the young people, saying the number of persons who want to become lawyers has increased during the last few years, Info-Prim Neo reports. Gheorghe Amihalachioaie, president of the Lawyers Union of Moldova, wished the young people to be objective, correct and equidistant, to enter the European Court of Human Rights, to be victorious and perseverant. One of those who received a license, Ion Ciumac said he fulfilled his dream of becoming a lawyer. “I’m happy as obtained what I wanted. Now that I received the license, I intend to join a law office and defend the interests of the Moldovan people,” he stated. Another licensee, Cristina Guzun said she had dreamt of becoming a lawyer since she was a child. “I do not have experience yet and will not be able to earn much money. The famous lawyers have high honorariums. I aim to acquire professionalism,” she said. In 2010, the Ministry of Justice issued 302 licenses for advocacy, while in 2009 – about 150. Approximately 1,600 lawyers work in Moldova at present.
