15 students will benefit from a new master’s degree program

15 students will benefit from a new master’s degree program in humanities “European Civilization. Great Books of the Humanity”, beginning in the fall of 2012. According to a press release of the Ministry of Education, the study program will be taught in Romanian and French and has been designed for future partnerships with prestigious universities from the network of Francophone Universities Agency, Info-Prim Neo reports. The program was developed at the initiative of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Chisinau, the West University of Timisoara and the State University of Moldova. Minister of Education Mihail Sleahtitchi welcomed the initiative and appreciated the program as pioneering in Moldova. He thinks that those who will graduate it, will give another dimension to their domains of activity, will being the society a new style of thinking, a new vision on things and events. Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute Petru Guran said that the course would focus on the European cultural canon and would require the reading of all books in original. The professors will introduce students to the historical, intellectual and spiritual world of the book and its author. Each course will be taught by a guest professor and a local one. The guest professors will come twice per semester. First at the beginning of the course for an intensive introductory program and the second time to improve the training of students in commentary exercises and to participate in their evaluation. The local professor will supervise students’ reading and commentaries of books during the semester. The graduates will obtain common diplomas of the West University of Timisoara and the State University of Moldova.
