17 new medicines become accessible to patients in Moldova

The Medicines Commission of the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices authorized 33 medicines needed for the treatment of serious conditions. Seventeen of them are new and will help patients to treat diseases that did not have enough therapeutic options until now, reads a press release of the institution, quoted by IPN.

Among the new drugs is Sevaren, intended for people suffering from serious kidney disease, especially those on dialysis. It helps reduce high phosphate levels in blood, a common problem in patients with kidney failure.

Tacrolimus, another new drug, is essential for patients who underwent organ transplant. It is usually used in conjunction with other immunosuppressive treatments to provide better protection against the rejection of the transplanted organ.

Among the drugs on the list of repeatedly authorized drugs is Fulvestrant, a drug used in the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women. This drug can be used both alone and in combination with other therapies to slow the progression of cancer.

Ziromin is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of severe lung infections and other infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is used when patients need intravenous treatment and in situations where other antibiotics do not work well enough.
