2009 more difficult than 2008, poll

A good part of the Moldovan population think that 2009 was a more difficult year than 2008 and many say that the living in their community worsened from the previous year, according to an opinion poll conducted by the Association of Moldovan Sociologists and Demographers (ASDM) published on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The respondents said they were concerned about the rise in prices of food end energy resources (75%) and the unemployment (50%). “The results of the poll show a considerable growth, compared to the previous polls, in the population's concern about potential diseases and outbreaks (15% in March 2009 and 34% in January 2010)”, said Victor Mocanu, the president of ASDM. At the same time, 29% think that in a year their families will live better, and 7% are even more optimistic, saying their lives will be much better. Only 12% of the respondents think their lives will worsen, and 6% say their lives will be much worse. 100 days into the investiture of the Filat Government, 47% of the respondents say the government is capable of improving things, 38% remain skeptical and 15% had no answer.
