Since the COVID-19 vaccination campaign was started, 1.363 million vaccine doses have been administered in Moldova. The national coverage with a dose is 23%, while with two doses is 22%. About 90% of the health workers got vaccinated with a dose, while 88% with two doses. According to the Ministry of Health, morbidity among medical personnel decreased by 85%, IPN reports.
The highest rates of vaccination, with two doses, were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau – 33%, Soroca district – 25%, Dubăsari district – 24%, Orhei district – 23%. The lowest rates were reported in Leova, Sângerei and ATU Gagauzia – between 13% and 15% - and among the people aged between 18 and 29.
So far Moldova received 1.698 million COVID-19 vaccine doses.
As many as 6,900 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Moldova during September 13-19, with 83% of the cases being among unvaccinated persons. The average number of cases the last seven days rose by 50%, from 656 during September 05-12 to 984 during September 13 – 19. Most of the patients developed mild and asymptomatic forms. Ninety persons are under intensive care.
A number of 74 deaths associated with the novel coronavirus were recorded the past week. The death toll now stands at 6,600 persons, with about 81% of the deaths being among persons older than 60.
