As many as 218 patients infected with the novel coronavirus are in a serious state. Also, 26 are in critical condition and were connected to mechanical ventilation. The information was presented after the meeting of the National Focal Point on April 29, IPN reports.

Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that over 17,000 persons have been tested so far and there were detected 3,638 infections with COVID-19. Of these, 141 were imported, while the rest are local transmission cases. A number of 1,114 infected persons have recovered.

Over 1,000 infections were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau, by 250 in Soroca, Ștefan Vodă and Tiraspol. Of those infected, 866 are aged between 50 and 59. The ratio of infected women to men is 2.127 : 1 511. Forty-three pregnant women also got COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health reported 107 deaths from the novel coronavirus.
