The companies “Oguzsatlink” SRL and “Ilk Halk Televizionu” SRL based in ATU Gagauzia were fined 290,000 lei for retransmitting prohibited programs of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, as well as for working without permissive documents. The decision was unanimously approved by the members of the Audiovisual Council, IPN reports.
Both companies rebroadcast news programs and movies, with military content, from the TV channels “Pervyi canal”, “Rossia 1”, “Rossia 24”, “Belarusi 24”, “MIR 24”, RBK” and “Pobeda”, which is prohibited by law. The Audiovisual Council imposed fines of 100,000 lei on each of them and gave them a period of 10 working days to stop the retransmission of these programs.
For working without a retransmission authorization, the two companies were fined 30,000 lei each. A fine of 30,000 lei was also imposed for broadcasting the television media service “Pervyi narodnyi”, owned by “Ilk Halk Televizionu” SRL, without a broadcast license issued by the Audiovisual Council.
In October 2023, the two companies, “Oguzsatlink” SRL and “Ilk Halk Televizionu” SRL, were fined 200,000 lei by the Audiovisual Council for derogations from the provisions of the Audiovisual Media Services Code, according to which, “in order to protect the national audiovisual space and ensure information security, media service distributors will not retransmit audiovisual television programs with informative, informative-analytical, military and political content produced in states other than the Member States of the European Union, the United States of America, Canada and the States that have ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television, with the exception of films and entertainment programs that do not have a militaristic content”.
