A man from Chisinau was caught in the act of trying to put 1 500 forged US dollars into circulation. He asked 300 genuine dollars for them. According to the Anticorruption Center, the operation to arrest the man was performed on Ion Creanga St in Chisinau, near “Flacara” market, on June 30. It was known that the man had accomplices, while the money was brought from the Transnistrian region. The banknotes will be thoroughly examined so as to collect more evidence. The suspect aged 31 faces five to ten years in jail over forging or putting of forged money into circulation.
