€4.34 million grant for waste management

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide the Republic of Moldova with a grant of €4.34 million for the development of infrastructure in the field of solid waste management. The grant will also finance the construction of a landfill, a sorting station and a composting station in Cahul town, IPN reports.

The Government approved the draft law on the ratification of the Grant Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the EBRD on the financing of investment projects aimed at developing infrastructure in the field of solid waste management.

The grant is intended for the implementation of essential projects for the development of solid waste management infrastructure and will be carried out in three waste management regions – WMRs.

At the first stage, the works will focus on WMR 1, which includes the districts of Cahul, Cantemir, Taraclia, as well as Vulcănești, Ceadâr-Lunga and Comrat of ATU Gagauzia.
