4.8-magntitude quake felt in Moldova
An earthquake measuring 4.8 degrees on the Richter scale struck Moldova in the morning of October 4.
Ion Ilies, head of the Experimental Seismology Center of the Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Geology and Seismology, has told Info-Prim Neo that the quake happened in Romania’s Vrancea region at 5.40, at a depth of 120 kilometers. The epicenter was 225 kilometers southwest of the Chisinau Seismology Station.
The oscillations in Chisinau and in the country measured 3-3.5 degrees on the MSK scale that has 12 intensity degrees. The quake was weak and produced no damage, stated Ion Ilies.
Ten quakes have occurred in Vrancea since September 27, but they measured less than 2.9 degrees on the Richter scale.
