48 million letters sent annually via Moldova’s Post Service

The century of swift processing has conquered the Postal Sector of Moldova. The administration of “Posta Moldovei” S.E. says that the number of letters sent by individuals is decreasing. However, the gap is covered by letters sent by businesses. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, on the occasion of the Post Office Worker Day, deputy manager of “Posta Moldovei” Ludmila Gorceac, stated that the progress in informational technologies has determined individuals to send letters via internet. The businesses are those who even the situation out, by sending letters to their clients using the state postal service. Yearly, over 48 million letters and over 215 thousands parcels are sent via the postal system. The number of employees within the enterprise hasn’t changed in 11 years. “Posta Moldovei” has over 5,400 employees. None of the post offices were closed down in that same period, Ludmila Gorceac added. October 9 marks the Professional Day of the Post Office Worker. Moldova became a member of the Universal Postal Union in 1992, among another 192 countries.
