50 young persons maltreated during April events go to Romania on recuperation

The third group of young people who were subjected to maltreatment, torture, inhuman and degrading treatment by the police after the April 7 events leaves for Romania today for recovery. The visit forms part of the Chisinau City Hall’s project “Recognition and Gratitude” and will last for six days, Info-Prim Neo reports. At Monday’s meeting of the Chisinau divisions and services, Gabriela Ciumac, the head of the Foreign Relations Division, said that the program of the visit includes meetings with mayors, MPs, the President of Romania Traian Basescu at the Cotroceni Palace, trips to the Pelesh Palace, etc. The second group returned from Romanian last night. It was accompanied by Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. At the Cotroceni Palace, they met with President Traian Basescu, who congratulated the young people on their struggle for democracy, freedom and a European future for Moldova. The project “Recognition and Gratitude” is implemented by the Chisinau City Hall with support from the Department for Relations with the Romanians Everywhere of the Romanian Foreign Ministry and from the Romanian Ministry of Youth and Sport. Three trips for groups of 50 young persons ill-treated by the police in April this year have been organized as part of the project.
