The works of 130 authors who wrote about Chisinau will be incorporated into a volume dedicated to the capital city on its 575th anniversary. In Monday’s meeting of City Hall officials, Lidia Kulikovski, director of the municipal library “B.P. Hasdeu”, said the book “Literary Chisinau” will be available from October 14, when it is celebrated the city’s day, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”This volume represents a hymn to Chisinau at a venerable age of 575 years. It is like a tonometer that will measure the Chisinau residents’ love for the city. We aimed to work out a literary anthology with verses, songs, essays and parts of prose writings about Chisinau,” said Lidia Kulikovski. According to her, the book has been sent to the publishing house. It includes 575 pages and will be issued in 575 copies. It contains several chapters, including introductory studies, poems, essays, songs, Chisinau in other languages, and the users of the municipal library about Chisinau. The last chapter was written with the help of the visitors of the municipal library. “A contest of readers’ essays has been held this year. There were selected the best of them, written by a housewife, a librarian and students of different high schools,” said Lidia Kulikovski. She also said that two more books dedicated to 575 years of the foundation of Chisinau are being compiled – one about the streets and monuments of Chisinau that disappeared and the other one with paintings and sculptures on Chisinau. The books will be distributed to libraries, the City Hall and the guests who will attend the anniversary celebrations. This year, Chisinau marks 575 years of its establishment.
