6 architects willing to raise monument to Stalin's victims in Chisinau
6 architects have applied for the contest announced by the Chisinau city hall to erect a monument to the victims of the Stalinist regime, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu, all the bids were submitted on the last day. A special commission is to consider the offers and to make a decision, which will be later adopted by the Municipal Council (CMC). Apart from the adjacent area and composition as such, the expenditures will have a decisive role for the final decision.
Nistor Grozavu says the messages of all the blue prints exactly convey the message of the Communist-Stalinist regime over the population.
The monument will be erected in the square of the Railway Station in Chisinau. They will also repair the fountain and will re-arrange the area to built a plaza for cultural and artistic events.
On July 6, 2009, the 60th anniversary of the Stalinist deportations will be marked.
