Eighty fully finished dwellings equipped with the minimum necessary – heating boilers, bathroom items and stoves – will be offered free of charge to participants in the Chernobyl cleanup. The transfer from state property to private property is provided for in a draft law that was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection said that dwellings are granted on the basis of applications submitted by applicants who haven’t previously owned or shared property, both in the Republic of Moldova and abroad, a dwelling/lot for construction or a house built within fruit growing associations.
The nuclear accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant occurred on the night of April 26, 1986. Every year on April 26, the Republic of Moldova marks the Day of Remembrance for victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and other nuclear accidents in gratitude for the people who remained disabled or even lost their lives contributing to the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear accident of 1986.
