An ample cultural program dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania will take place on March 27 in Bucharest. The event is organized by students from the Republic of Moldova, members of the Organization of Bessarabian Students in Bucharest (OBSB), Info-Prim Neo reports. The aim of this cultural project is to pay homage to all those who contributed to realizing this national desideratum. The OBSB members also intend to convey a message of solidarity to the Romanians living in the Republic of Moldova and to promote the Bessarabian culture in Romania. According to the organizers, the events dedicated to celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Union will be attended by Romanian ethnics from Moldova, Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria – students from Bucharest universities, as well as members o students’ organizations. Romanian President Traian Basescu, Bucharest Mayor Adriean Videanu, the former political detainees Alexandru Lesco and Tudor Popa, as well as various cultural stakeholders from Moldova and Romania, are also expected to take part. On March 27 in the morning, 200 Bessarabian students will lay flowers at the monument to the members of Sfatul Tarii (Bessarabia’s National Assembly in 1917-1918, which proclaimed independence from the Russian Empire and voted for the union with the Kingdom of Romania on March 27). In the course of the day, a debate on the significance of the event will be held, and a film made on the occasion of the anniversary will be screened. In the evening, the celebrations will culminate with a concert themed “Bucharest and Chisinau. Together in Europe”, featuring the folk music band Lautarii, conducted by famous Nicolae Botgros, Nenita Quartet, Transbalkanica and Zdob & Zdub. The events are organized by OBSB, in partnership with ARCUB and the Foundation for Romania.
