A series of flights heading for Ukraine today landed at the Chisinau International Airport. The Moldovan authorities assure that they will take care of these people. In a press statement, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, notes that the Russian Federation this morning attacked the neighboring country Ukraine, flagrantly violating the norms of international law. The international community unanimously condemns this aggression, IPN reports.
“We call on the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are in Ukraine on visit or stay there to return home. All the border crossing points are functional and work according to an extended program, with the staff being supplemented. We attentively monitor the situation in the country and the region. We are in touch with the authorities of the neighboring countries and with other foreign partners,” said the official.
Traffic on the Moldova-Ukrainian border has intensified. The Moldovan institutions set up temporary assistance units. The subdivisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs will step up the patrolling efforts so as to prevent eventual provocations.
