About 700 social apartments will be built by 2018

The Government will negotiate a framework lending agreement for the second social apartments building project with the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB). The group of negotiators on behalf of Moldova will be headed by Minister of Regional Development and Construction Marcel Raducan, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta, the project is a continuation of a similar initiative launched in 2007. Within the first project, there were built four apartment buildings – two in Chisinau and by one in Glodeni and Criuleni towns. The costs amounted to €7.6 million. Of this sum, €4.9 million represented the loan granted by the CEB, while €2.7 million – Moldova’s contribution. Under the second social apartments building project, there will be finished the construction of 15 apartment buildings with about 700 apartments in 12 towns. The cost of the project is €20.4 million, €13.4 million of which is the Council of Europe Development Bank’s loan. The rest of €7 million will be provided by the local public authorities, €4.6 million of which in the form of workforce and materials, while €2.4 million as contribution. The CEB’s loan is repayable in 20 years, with a grace period of five years. The interest will be subsidized from the Bank’s Selective Trust Account. The project will be completed on December 31, 2018.
