Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC) will start installing a water main between the streets Valea Dicescu and Mikhail Lomonosov as soon as the Mayor gives his formal consent, the water utility said in a press release.
To make the works possible, ACC will have to disrupt water supply in the area, leaving taps dry in different periods on the streets Academia, Drumul Viilor, Mitropolit Gurie Grosu, Timis, Universitatea, Vasile Alecsandri, Pan Halippa, Alexandru Cosmescu, Mikhail Lomonosov, Vladimir Korolenko, Gheorghe Asachi, Academia and Ismail. To compensate for the disruption, the utility will provide water in tanks.
Concomitantly with the installation, the utility will disinfect water reservoirs in the neighborhood using sodium hypochlorite.
Works on installing the 600mm-wide and almost 1km-long water main will last until the end of June. Making connection to other major pipes in Centru and Botanica districts, it will enable a stable supply of water to the neighborhood. The 5 million lei project is financed by the municipality from a loan offered by the International Finance Corporation.
In addition, ACC plans extensive rehabilitation works at the city's waste-water treatment plans. Overall, in 2012 utility plans to spend roughly 93 million lei on installations, repair and maintenance.
