Two people lost their lives and four others were hospitalized in a serious condition following an accident on Wednesday, September 25, near Alexăndreni settlement, Edineț district.

The press officer of the Edinet Police Inspectorate, Svetlana Talpa, told IPN that a 26-year-old young woman, who was driving a BMW model car, lost control of the steering wheel and collided with another Volkswagen car which was circulating by the rules, from the direction of the city of Edinet.

As a result of the impact, the 41-year-old Volkswagen driver, with no passengers, died on the spot. The rescuers have intervened at the scene to extricate the people from the other car.

The 26-year-old, who caused the accident, arrived at the hospital in a coma. Three passengers, between the ages of 22 and 26, suffered head injuries and polytrauma, one of them being in a coma. The fourth passenger, a 24-year-old, has died in the resuscitation unit.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the accident.
