Actor Mihai Curagau to be portrayed on stamps, envelopes

The Moldova Mail tomorrow will start issuing stamps and envelopes featuring Mihai Curagau as a homage to the late film and theater actor’s 75th birthday, IPN reports.

The stamps will have a face value of 1.75 lei. The envelopes, which will cost 3 lei, were printed in 10,000 copies. The design belongs to Lilian Iatco.

Mihai Curagau was born on 15 August 1943, in the village of Balsnesti, Nisporeni district. He debuted in film in 1967. He is best known for playing Ion in Tudor Tataru’s popular comedy Polobocul. As a stage actor, Curagau won the Award for the best performance by a male actor in a supporting role at the 2004 UNITEM Gala. He was also awarded a People’s Artist title. He died on 24 December 2016.
