ACUM is in a disadvantageous situation as snap elections become more probable, opinion

The bloc ACUM is in a less favorable situation at present as the variant of snap parliamentary elections becomes more probable. Why the snap elections were induced will be probably a very important theme in the election campaign, the dean of the Faculty of International Relations and Political Sciences of the Moldova State University Alexandru Solcan was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel.

“To avoid snap elections, three rather real scenarios can be implemented. A PSRM-ACUM alliance remains rather probable, but the bloc does not want to openly admit that such a coalition is possible. A problem can be seen here. It is evident that this coalition will be dominated by the PSRM and it is clear that Russia does not believe in tears and its clear that Moldova will be increasingly connected to Russia’s interests,” noted the dean.

According to Alexandru Solcan, an eventual PSRM-PDM coalition at ideological level would be the closest and this rapprochement between the PDM and PSRM would be natural from a number of viewpoints, but the geopolitical factor intervenes here. “In such a coalition, the Democratic Party wouldn’t be the second voice and would probably dominate,” he noted, adding an eventual coalition around the independent MPs based on a feasible government program would be the third variant.

Journalist Valeriu Reniță said the bloc ACUM does not invite the Socialists to discussions, but invites the press and society to a new show where it would like to gain several rating points. The bloc members appear now as those to blame for the eventual snap elections and they want to reduce this blame and to deny responsibility within possibilities. “A blockage started to take shape owing to their behavior,” he stated.

The journalist noted things follow a different path already. The Party of Socialists started to discuss with the Democratic Party, either openly or in secret.

On April 8, the Political Bloc ACUM DA PAS invited the parliamentary group of the Party of Socialists to public discussions to consider the delay in the process of constituting the Parliament’s working bodies as the process blocks the discussion and adoption of the laws needed to free the state from the captivity of the oligarchic system. The invitation to discussions in the Parliament’s conference hall is for April 9, 11am, or for any other jointly agreed day and hour.
