Decision makers of an education institution located in Ciocana district of Chisinau are investigated for asking for money from students’ parents. According to a communiqué of the Chisinau Police Division, it was established that the school’s administration in 2013-2014 collected money from parents on different pretexts, IPN reports.
The police found money collected from parents, records of the gathered financial resources and other dubious documents in the offices of the administration. They were sealed up and confiscated.
The suspects face a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 lei or two to six years in jail, in both of the cases with ban on holding particular posts and performing particular activities for a period of three years.
Asked by IPN to comment on the case, the head of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said she does not know about this case, but if they are informed about it by the police, they will hold an internal inquiry. She stated that the Division receives complaints from parents about the collection of money in kindergartens and schools, but they are not empowered to inspect the work of parents’ committees. If the institution managers are warned, but they commit again the same violations, the authorities send the case to the competent bodies for examination.
