Advertisements before and after screenings in movie theaters will be banned

The showing of advertisements for products and services and other promotional videos before and after screenings in movie theaters will be prohibited. The Government approved a legislative initiative to this effect that was put down by a group of MPs, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Minister of Culture Boris Focsa, the viewers in movie theaters unwillingly become consumers of advertisements. The TV set can be turned off, while in movie theaters the persons are unable to do it and this arouses dissatisfaction. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said that the advertisements in movie theaters can be interpreted as abuse on the part of the companies that own the movie theaters, which is a flagrant violation of the consumer rights. The showing of advertisements in movie theaters is punished with a fine of 1 000 to 6 000 lei.
