African swine fever affects wild boars

The African swine fever expanded to the wild fauna, affecting wild boars. Earlier, the National Food Safety Agency reported cases of African swine fever in private farms in Palanca and Tudora villages of Stefan-Voda district. Three new hotbeds were reported now in forestry companies in Orhei, Cimislia and Cahul districts, IPN reports.

In a press release, the National Food Safety Agency says the virus was detected in wild boars caught during hunting. Samples were transmitted to the Reference Laboratory for African Swine Fever in Madrid for determining the viral genotype.

On November 30 this year, another hotbed of African swine fever was notified in a private farm in Carpineni village of Hancesti district, where measures are being taken in accordance with the plan approved by the competent district commission.

Under an order issued by the Agency, the transportation of pigs, meat products and byproducts from countries affected by the African swine fever is temporarily banned.
