The statements made by Vlad Filat reveal that the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) inherited from the previous, Communist government vices that found shelter inside the alliance, but they go against the government program, the announced goals and the responsibility towards the voters, considers political analyst Oazu Nantoi. He told Info-Prim Neo that the accumulated problems were not caused by one person only. During the existence of the AEI1 and AEI2, the leaders of the alliance repeatedly made mistakes, including at strategic level.
Oazu Nantoi considers that two players should now become more active – the head of state and civil society that should exert pressure on the political class. The President must become a more active arbitrator and contribute to the reopening of the dialogue between the components of the AEI in the hope that the created situation will not affect society and will not have serious repercussions for the political process in Moldova.
Oazu Nantoi said there are yet no signals that public opinion in Moldova changed substantially and the possible early elections may bring something new in the composition of the legislature. “There will be the same faces, the same players and the same irresponsibility towards the voters,” stated the analyst.
On February 13, Vlad Filat announced that the PLDM withdrew from the AEI agreement, while the next day he ordered creating a working group for negotiating a new accord aimed at remedying the situation and ensuring the functioning of the same parliamentary majority. The Liberal-Democratic leader said he wants an agreement that would exclude the oligarchic principles.
