Alexandru Epureanu – best footballer of 2010

The Moldovan Football Federation announced on Friday, December 17, the winners of the annual accolade. They have been chosen by 200 specialists, members of MFF’s Executive Committee, coaches, club chairmen, presidents of MFF commissions and leaders of affiliated associations, Info-Prim Neo reports. As expected, the Best Player of 2010 was Alexandru Epureanu. He won the award in 2009 and 2007 as well. Although the Moldova and Dinamo Moscow midfielder didn’t attend the ceremony, the award was handed to his father. Bulgarian Vladislav Stoyanov of Sheriff Tiraspol won the Best Goalkeeper award, while Olimpia Balti’s Nicolae Orlovschi was named the Best Defender. Another Sheriff player, Alexandr Erokhin, was voted the Best Midfielder. Dacia Chisinau’s striker Ghenadie Orbu became the Best Forward. Alexandru Maximov (Viitorul Orhei) and Jimmy Franca (Sheriff) shared the top scorer award with 13 goals each. Valeriu Sorochin became the Best Referee, while Vlad Goian of Iskra-Stal Ribnita- the Best Coach. Ludmila Ninicu won the Best Female Player award. Moldova U19 were named Team of the Year after qualifying for the European Championship 2011 FC Tiraspol won the Fair Play award. The Sports School in Magdacesti received “The best football event for masses” accolade, while the female paralympic team got another special honor- “The best football event for people with disabilities”. Oleg Hiloti was named the Best Futsal Player and Andrei Negara the Best Beach Footballer.
