Almost 6,000 Pfizer vaccine doses delivered to Moldova

Another 5,850 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 made by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer/BioNTech got to Chisinau today. This is the third part of the lot of 700,830 doses bought by the Ministry of Health through the agency of the Office for the Management of Foreign Assistance Programs. Over 43,000 vaccine doses have been received so far, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, the 5,850 vaccine doses were stored at the National Public Health Agency and will be distributed proportionally to all the national vaccination units.

The purchase was made as part of the Health Component of the COVID-19 Emergency Response and Support for Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Project in accordance with the framework lending agreement between Moldova and the Council of Europe Development Bank.

By now, Moldova received a total of over 269,000 Pfizer vaccine doses, over 125,000 of which through the COVAX Facility, over 100,000 as donation from Romania and over 43,000 doses that were purchased.

Over 1.128 million vaccine doses have been administered in Moldova so far, with more than 464,000 people being fully immunized.
