Ana Odobescu, Moldova’s representative to the Eurovision Song Contest this year, will fly to Tel Aviv already this Sunday and will have her first rehearsal the next day, her producer Alexandr Vdovicenco announced.
As production bills began piling up, exceeding 50,000 euros, there was a risk of Ana not making it to Tel Aviv at all. But the help that came recently from an Orhei-based charity and some businessmen has been a stroke of fortune, said Vdovicenco.
“Thanks to good people and to God, the situation has turned around. Ana is ready to rock. In the past, we had financial problems, followed by technical problems, too. We had trouble shipping our scenery to Tel Aviv. But now we’re in luck, and everything’s great”, said the producer.
Ana Odobescu says she has worked with foreign specialists to prepare her performance. She was reluctant to reveal what will happen on stage exactly, only saying it will involve “living art”, for what it’s worth. She will wear a white, “fairytale-like” dress created by a Moldovan designer. “It won’t be a hot performance, we’ll serve it cold”, said Ana, adding that she hopes her song “Stay” will make it to the final.
This year, Moldova is scheduled to compete in the second Eurovision semifinal on May 16.
