The Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) asks the public TV channel Moldova 1 to give it the right to reply following the broadcasting of information about the defection of a number of persons from the party. According to the party’s leader Andrei Nastase, those who allegedly defected from the party, as it was reported on Moldova 1, actually never formed part of the PPPDA. Andrei Nastase noted that the party became again the target of a media attack staged by the government controlled by Vlad Plahotniuc.
In a news conference at IPN, the party’s chairman said that by disseminating this news item, Moldova 1 showed to the whole society that it definitively turned into a docile media instrument of the current anti-popular regime. If the party does not get the right to reply, protests will be mounted in front of the company’s head office. The public TV channel Moldova 1, which is officially an independent broadcaster funded with taxpayers’ money, is actually a propagandistic platform that is politically controlled by the Democratic Party.
“We are ‘flattered’ by the increased attention to the local conferences of our party devoted by the propagandistic concern Plahotniuc, which was joined openly by the TV channel Moldova 1 of the Democratic Party for which the denigrating of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” is much more important than the covering of the country’s pressing problems, such as poverty, rapid rise in prices of goods and tariffs,” says a statement signed by the PPPDA.
The party reiterated its message to the whole society and the international public opinion, saying that despite all the media attacks and lynching, it will continue to struggle to free the state from the claws of the kleptocratic regime and to implement real reforms in the interests of all the people.
In another development, the party’s deputy chairman Alexandru Slusari said that the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” a month ago suggested six initiatives designed to improve the life of the Moldovan citizens and the proposed measures could have been taken during ten days, but President Igor Dodon did nothing.
Deputy chairman Chiril Motpan said the rulers, in particular the group that serves Plahotniuc, want to create the impression that we live in a perfect environment, without problems, but meanwhile destroy democracy and want to frighten the people so as to eliminate any germ of democracy and any tendency towards correctness. Despite this pressure, the party maintains the message launched earlier.
It was announced that the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” will hold a congress on February 5 to discuss the adjustment of the party’s statutes and program.
