The candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) Andrei Nastase said he feels he is close to winning the mayoral elections. He spoke about his feelings in a special post-elections program on ProTV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“I proved that despite the evil things done to us, not only to me, but also to our city and our country, in the first round of the elections we managed to thwart all their plans. I permanently had confidence in the discernment of the residents of Chisinau, whom I considered some of the most informed people, and continue to trust them. Surely they committed many frauds this time again,” stated Andrei Nastase.
The candidate of the PPPDA said he expects the voter turnout will be high. The whole political class of Moldova is responsible for the low presence of young people at the polling booths.
As to the cooperation with the central authorities, Andrei Nastase said that if he is elected mayor he will try to have a correct and civilized institutional dialog. If the central authorities try to hamper him in his activity, he will seek help from the citizens. “When you are elected mayor of Chisinau, you also belong to those who mandated you to solve their problems, to improve the quality of their life and this implies a dialog with the Municipal Council and with the central authorities too,” he noted.
According to the preliminary data, the runoffs involved 248 674 voters, which is 39.12% of the persons eligible to vote.
The elected mayor will hold office until the local general ordinary elections of 2019.
