More than 730 projects have been completed under the European Village National Program, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu announced. According to him, as a result of the implementation of projects, over one million citizens benefit from better living conditions, IPN reports.
During two years, they managed to build about 800 kilometers of water pipes benefiting over 130,000 citizens, approximately 100 kilometers of sewerage networks and 12 treatment plants benefiting over 120,000 citizens, more than 700 kilometers of street lighting enjoyed by over 200,000 citizens. Also, over 330 social buildings benefiting over 560,000 citizens, such as kindergartens, schools, sports fields, playgrounds, and cultural centers, were rehabilitated.
According to the minister, 748 mayor’s offices or over 80% of the mayor’s offices of Moldova applied to take part in the European Village Program, the 2024 edition. About 42% of the projects, with an average cost of 7.6 million lei, refer to the construction of water supply systems and sewerage services. 21% of all the projects, with an average cost of 4.1 million lei, aim to renovate public buildings, including by taking energy efficiency measures.
