The Ministry of Education and Research suggests increasing the annual allowance intended for executive and teaching personnel of public general education institutions. Secretary general Nadejda Velishko said the increasing of the allowance from 2,000 lei to 4,000 lei was undertaken by the Cabinet through the government program, IPN reports.

A sum of 172 million lei was earmarked in the 2022 state budget for increasing the allowance. Over 43,000 teachers and managers of education institutions will benefit from an increased allowance.

The Ministry of Education and Research’s bill provides for the extension of the list of goods that can be bought with this money by including office supplies, consumables for computers and Internet connection. Under the bill, the annual allowance will be provided to teachers and managers in September.
