The Chisinau Appeals Court upheld the Ciocana Court’s decision to arrest Gheorghe Cavcaliuc and remand him in custody, IPN reports.

Gheorghe Cavcaliuc was summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases to be questioned, but he didn’t show up. He then informed that he could not present himself at the institution as he could not abandon his professional duties in the UK and for other sound reasons.

Recently, Interpol accepted the request to put Cavcaliuc on the wanted list for the fabrication of two cases: against Gheorghe Petic and against Ruslan Verbitski. Gheorghe Petic was framed for rape, while Ruslan Verbitski for illegal conveyance of Kalashnikov cartridges to Ukraine. The two cases were fabricated in 2018, when Gheorghe Cavcaliuc served as deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate.
