Assistance for settlements affected by rainstorm and hail

The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service swiftly intervened to provide assistance to people whose homes were damaged by hail in the evening of June 18. Those affected received roof slates to repair their homes, IPN reports.

The rescuers set up working sectors in Petresti, Medeleni, Todiresti, Romanovca, Bumbata, Blindesti and Valea Mare villages of Ungheni district. Employs of the Emergencies Service brought over 1,500 roof slates to the hail-stricken villages for repairing the damaged buildings. They helped take the building materials to 47 affected families.

Ungheni district was the worst hit by the rainstorm with hail of the evening of June 18. The hail destroyed the roofs of over 1,000 houses in 16 villages of the district. Owing to the high winds, 30 persons got stuck on the road in vehicles near Cosauti village of Soroca district. Rescuers also intervened to help unblock roads from trees in Rezina and Floresti districts.

Rain was also forecast for this weekend.
