The chairman of the public association “Moldova mea” Fiodor Ghelici accuses the administration of the national telecoms carrier SA Moldtelecom of employing a money laundering scheme through a cleaning company, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on November 16, Fiodor Ghelici said the administration of Moldtelecom in January suggested the women doing the cleaning to tender resignations so as to be immediately employed at another company that provides cleaning services - Tera Imobil. Under a contract with the given company, the women were to continue doing the cleaning at Moldtelecom, but the telecoms carrier was to transfer the money to the cleaning company.
According to Fiodor Ghelici, afterward the women were told to sign employment contracts with another company - Tera Cleaning. As Moldtelecom has signed contracts only with the first company, the women were transferred to another workplace. They complain that they were cheated and now do a large volume of work for a salary of 1 452 lei, which is not even paid on time.
“Such an attitude towards the women is inhuman. Moldtelecom transferred these women to a private company as if they are merchandise. This company now tries to get rid of these women who defend their rights. It employs women from rural areas who are ready to accept a salary of 300 lei,” said Fiodor Ghelici.
He also said that Moldtelecom annually pays about 7 million lei to the company that provides cleaning services. “Earlier, when the women worked for Moldtelecom, this company paid taxes to the state. Now it launders money through fraudulent schemes,” said Fiodor Ghelici.
He also said that the association that he represents filed complaints to the Prosecutor’s Office, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime and the Government, but has not yet received an answer.
A number of former employees of SA Moldtelecom came to the news conference. They confirmed what the chairman of “Moldova mea” said. “We do not receive the salary on time, but have a heavy workload. They also pledged to pay us bonuses. We want to work in the conditions promised by
Moldtelecom when we went to work for the private company,” said Inesa Cozlovski, who had served with Moldtelecom for 14 years.
Only 28 of the 92 women who wrote applications to be transferred from SA Moldtelecom to Tera Imobil now work for Tera Cleaning.
