Associations of Moldovan diaspora from 21 countries meet in Chisinau

Representatives of 55 associations of the Moldovan diaspora from 21 countries came together in Chisinau to identity the problems the Moldovans encounter abroad. The organizers and participants in the International Conference “Culture of Tolerance, Common Values, Intercultural Dialogue: 20 years of accomplishments” aimed to analyze the results achieved until now and the steps that must be taken in the future, Info-Prim Neo reports. Attending the event, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said this meeting held before Moldova’s Independence Day should make the people think about the road covered by the country until now. “Undoubtedly, the past is important, but the future is more important. That’s why I’m firmly convinced that we must direct our entire energy to building a modern, European Moldova, with high living standards,” he stated. The Premier assured that the Government is determined to strengthen the relations with he minor communities of the country and the Moldovans living abroad. The conference that will last during August 23-26 will center on the results achieved by the associations of the diaspora and the state institutions in promoting culture, values and people’s interests. The participants will discuss methods of improving the diaspora-diaspora and diaspora – country relations, ways of mobilizing the associations of the diaspora for Moldova’s socioeconomic development, the employment and business opportunities in Moldova, the promotion of economic ties with the diaspora and implementation of new projects focusing on migrants.
