Aurelian Silvestru, director of the Chisinau High School of Creativity and Invention “Prometeu-Prim”, last weekend visited Oricova village of Calarasi district, where he erects a church. He went there on the invitation of the head of the local library, Uliana Lesanu, but also because he needed a break from routine after he turned 60 at the middle of the week and was awarded the Order of the Republic. He went there to find communication and to build up his strength with the help of the springs. He was accompanied by a group of friends, colleagues and students of the high school.
Oricova has no school and no church. The 11 students living in the village go to the school in Calarasi. “Oricova is located deep inside a forest. To get to the monastery in Harjauca, the villagers must go over a high hill. This small village with kindhearted people is badly in need of a church,” Aurelian Silvestru stated for Info-Prim Neo, voicing hope that the church that he builds there will become a monastery over time.
Aurelian Silvestru told the villagers about the church that he started to erect for the local community, about the wonderful children of the village and the prospects of the faithful rural communities.
While in Oricova, Aurelian Silvestru showed the villagers his last book titled “The Lost One”. It is his first prose work as he had written only verses until recently.
Fourth grader Vlad Chihai made a portrait of the guest and several drawings inspired by his books.
The library's head Uliana Lesanu said that she wanted to invite Aurelian Silvestru to Oricova long ago. “We are glad that Mister Silvestru found our village picturesque and decided to construct a church here,” she said.
The well-known Romanian language teacher Alexei Acsan told Info-Prim Neo that he remained very impressed by the visit to Oricova. “We watched a splendid performance by a group of students of “Prometeu-Prim” and the students and ensemble “Vatra” of Oricova. The ensemble was founded in 1988 and continues to work despite difficulties. Maybe this is a sign that our villages have the right to a new life. Before the winter holidays, I convinced myself that the traditions continue to live,” Alexei Acsan said.
“A true citizen cannot put the burden on someone else, but should work hard. I will try to bear my cross with dignity,” said Aurelian Silvestru, referring to the Order of the Republic that he received recently for his work.
