Austrian government offers €2m grant to Moldova to reduce poverty

The Government of Austria will provide Moldova with a €2 million grant for a program aimed at reducing poverty. The announcement was made by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu following a meeting with his Austrian counterpart Johannes Rauch, IPN reports.

According to Minister Alexei Buzu, the grant comes to develop measures to reduce and prevent poverty, to mitigate the negative socioeconomic consequences of multiple crises, but also actions to ensure the availability, access, quality and accessibility of care and health services.

With the help of the grant, social inclusion measures and measures to promote an independent life, without discrimination, for people with disabilities will be supported. The money will also be used to prevent and combat gender-based violence, fight child poverty and promote children’s health and well-being, ensure social security for vulnerable and poverty-affected groups and expand social protection systems.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu is paying a working visit to Vienna, Austria, during May 22-24.
