The head of the cleanup company Autosalubritate Eugeniu Axentiev could be dismissed after the mayor of Chisinau familiarized himself with a number of internal reports on the fire at the Țânțăreni waste dump, produced by the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service and the General Inspectorate for Emergencies. Mayor Ion Ceban informed about this in the meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), IPN reports.

The mayor asked for an internal inquiry to determine the causes of the fire and to assess the actions taken by persons responsible for the management of the waste dump. He asked the councilors to include the proposal in the agenda of the August 11 meeting of the CMC.

Last week, the firefighters and employees of municipal services during several days struggled to contain the fire at the waste dump in Tânțăreni village of Anenii Noi district, where the waste from Chisinau is taken. A sum of 700,000 lei was allocated from the municipal reserve fund for covering the costs associated with the alleviation of the consequences of fire.

Contacted by IPN for a comment, Eugeniu Axentiev said that he will not comment on the mayor’s statements. He noted he does not know what the reports contain and cannot state his opinion without familiarizing himself with them.
