The average consumer prices in January were by 9.1% higher than in the same month of last year. The prices of food products grew by 7.4%, of nonfoods - by 4.7% and of services provided to the population - by 18%, IPN reports, with reference to the National Bureau of Statistics.

In the first month of this year, compared to the end of 2024, consumer prices rose by 2.8% on average, due to the 1% increase in food prices, contributing to a rise of about 0.4% in the average consumer prices. The rise was also influenced by the 0.8% increase in nonfood prices, contributing to a rise of 0.3% in the average consumer prices, as well as by the 7.9% increase in the price of services provided to the population, contributing to a 2.2% increase in the average consumer prices.

In January 2025, compared to December 2024, in the case of food products, sharp increases in the average consumer prices were reported for vegetables – by 6.1%, milk and dairy products – by 1.1%, vegetable oil – by 0.8%, fruit – by 0.6%. At the same time, the price of hen eggs decreased by 2.9%.

In the case of services provided to the population, the regulated charges for electricity in January 2025 grew by 50.4% compared to December 2024, contributing to a 1.8% increase in the average consumer prices, and the charges for thermal energy rose by 25.1%, contributing to a 0.2% increase in the average consumer prices.

In the period, fuels grew by 2.9% (including diesel fuel and gasoline – by 5.4%, liquefied  petroleum gas – by 1.0%), building materials – by 0.3%, footwear – by 0.2%.
