The baggage reclaim area in the arrivals hall of the Chisinau International Airport was extended by 50% and was fully renovated. In a press release, the airport managing company "Avia Invest” says the extension of this area signficantly increased the baggage processing capacity and helps avoid crowdedness in this sector, IPN reports.

Three carousels now work in the baggage reclaim area. The engineering (anti-fire, power and air-conditioning) systems were renovated and modernized. The works to set up the ceiling and the LED lighting system are close to an end.

The "T - shape” system works at a speed of 0.5 m/s and has the length of 42 m on a compact area. It can process an average of 80 units of baggage simultaneously. One route can take 5 minutes on average if all the passengers are present near the baggage handling system. This set of equipment can work efficiently during over 20 years.

The number of passport control points for transit passengers was increased from one to four as a result of the reconstruction works. The efficiency of the heating system rose by 25%. The area is also equipped with a last-generation conditioning system. There was built up an elevator for persons with reduced mobility.
