Bakeries that raised bread prices did not infringe law
Five of the seven bakeries in northern Moldova inspected by anticorruption officers increased the prices of bread following the rise in the prices of raw material and energy resources, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime says in a communiqué, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
During inspections, the Center determined that the economic entities that borrowed wheat from the state also raised the bread prices, but the profit margin used does not exceed the legal limit.
Another company that increased the prices of bread three times this year argued the costs of buying flour and producing bread are higher and represent 60% of the cost price of the finished product.
According to the Center, five of the inspected bakeries increased the prices, but the profitability percentage varies between 4.67 and 5.12, which is within the legal limits.
On July 1, the prices of bread in the northern districts were raised by about 0.5 lei.
