Balcony of Chisinau apartment destroyed by fire

The balcony of an apartment situated on the seventh floor of a 22-story building on Testemitanu St in Chisinau caught fire in the evening of December 12. The teams of nine firefighting vehicles struggled to contain the blaze, Info-Prim Neo reports. Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the firefighters intervened quickly and the flames did not manage to extend. Only two square meters of the balcony had burned. When the fire started, there was nobody in the apartment. The firefighters had to force the door. Nobody was hurt and there was no need to evacuate the dwellers. The antifire inspectors are to establish the cause of fire. The given building was also involved in a fire on March 1. Three apartments located on the 17th and 18th floors had been then in flames. A woman was taken to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning. Eleven firefighting vehicles were on the scene. Ninety-five persons were evacuated.
