BaltFloodCombat helps Moldovan rescuers with flood cleanup
Representatives of the EU’s BaltFloodCombat High Capacity Pumping Module on September 2 pumped over 30,000 cubic meters of water from Chircani village of Cahul district. The BaltFloodCombat mission that came to help mitigate the consequences of floods will work in Moldova for two weeks. All the costs are covered by the European Union, Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo.
Nineteen citizens of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania serving with BaltFloodCombat came to Moldova with six modern motor vehicles and three high-capacity pumps with a joint capacity of 1,400 cubic meters per hour.
Liliana Puscasu said it was decided that the Baltic pumping specialists will work in southern Moldova, where the floodwaters do not recede. In Cahul, they will pump the water that flooded and damaged the railroad so that it could be used again.
