A man from Balti was admitted to the municipal hospital with burns and traumas as a result of an explosion that happened in his garage in the evening of July 24, IPN reports.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the garage was completely destroyed, while two buildings situated nearby were partially damaged. The blast didn’t cause a fire.

Emergency teams took 34 gas cylinders out of the debris. Twenty of them were empty. According to preliminary reports, a cigarette was lit in the garage where there was gas concentration.

The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service warns that storing gas cylinders in unequipped places is dangerous. It is banned transferring gas from cylinders to other containers, using improvised cylinders and keeping them in the sun.
