Bălți-Ocnița train catches fire

The suburban Bălți-Ocnița train started to burn in the morning of June 2, while in Dondușeni town. Fortunately, no one was hurt and the train could continue its way after the fire was extinguished.

The smoke coming from the back of the train was noticed by the mechanic. The train was stopped and action was taken in strict compliance with the regulations, spokesman for Moldova’s Railways Constantin Olteanu has told IPN.

He also said that firefighters were called out. The passengers went out of the train independently and there was no danger to their life and health.

Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies Liliana Pușcașu said that firefighters of the Dondușeni Rescue and Firefighting Unit travelled to the scene. The case of fire hasn’t been yet found out.
