Barrage near Leuseni customs further stopped up

About 16 police officers and 120 servicemen work to reinforce the barrage that protects the Leuseni customs and the villages situated along the lower course of the Prut from morning till night, Info-Prim Neo reports. Prime Minister Vlad Filat instructed stopping up the barrage until the levee in Nemteni is rebuilt. The works will last by Saturday or Sunday. According to Colonel Alexei Armas, the head of the Ministry of the Interior’s Logistics Division, the waves are greater in the evening and the floodwaters that affected Nemseni, Obileni, Sarateni and Cotul Morii villages damage the barrage near Leuseni, threatening the border crossing point and the nearby villages. The sacks of sand and earth are brought by trucks and then taken closer to the barrage by boats. “If the break in the Nemeteni levee is stopped up by Saturday or Sunday, the works on these 4 kilometers of barrage will be halted,” Alexei Armas added. Officers of the special police brigade Fulger and employees of the police stations from Calarasi, Criuleni and Ialoveni were involved in the works to reinforce the barrage. They were accommodated at the high school in Nemteni
