Basarabian carpet exhibition on Chisinau City Day

Carpets sown throughout 2011 will be exposed on October 14, during an exhibition organized by the “Mihai Eminescu” Romanian Cultural Institute in Chisinau, in collaboration with the Folk Craftsmen's Union and Chisinau City Hall, on the occasion of Chisinau City Day, reports Info-Prim Neo. According to a communique from the “Mihai Eminescu” Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), the 7 carpets to be exhibited were sown during the “Basarabian carpet – value worth of global patrimony” project, which was launched and financially supported by ICR Chisinau, aiming at promoting authentic Romanian culture and traditions in Moldova. The carpets were sown using old patterns called “izvod” and tools crafted through traditional techniques, such as intertexture and woven wool painted with vegetal coloring agents. The exhibition will be open to visitors from 9am to 5pm at the Folk Craftsmen's Union, in the immediate vicinity of the Great National Assembly Square, at the intersection of Stefan cel Mare Blvd. with Pushkin Street.
