Bashkan calls on Russian speakers to form resistance movement

The Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal suggested creating a public organization for defending the rights of the Russian speakers. He said that Russian speaker’s rights were limited during the communist government and continue now to be limited, Info-Prim Neo reports. “There were adopted many laws against the Russian speakers and were closed Russian teaching schools. In such conditions, the people whose rights have been violated should unite. We must put up resistance. We must form a movement and give an appropriate answer to such actions,” Mihail Formuzal said in a news conference. The Bashkan stated that the Russian language should be declared the second official language. “We are not guests in the Republic of Moldova and we are not on a trip here. We live here,” said Mihail Formuzal. The movement would have jurists who would record all the violations and would appeal to court authorities’ decisions whereby the rights of the Russian speakers are infringed.
